Terms of Service

Last updated: 14 August 2026

The Debate Club is a free, volunteer-run community for civil public discourse. We hold a live voice debate on Zoom every Saturday at 11am IST. There is no charge, no account, and no subscription.

Taking part

  • Anyone may attend. You do not need debating experience.
  • A moderator frames the motion and runs a speaking queue. Speakers get five uninterrupted minutes per round and may re-join the queue.
  • Argue with the argument, not the person. Contempt for another participant, slurs, and generalisations attacking any group get you removed. This is the one rule we enforce without discussion — civility is the entire product.

Recording and publication

  • Sessions are recorded. Recordings are published to our YouTube channel, and short clips are published to our social accounts with the speaker’s name shown.
  • The moderator states this at the start of every session. If you would rather not be featured, say so in chat or email us — it is honoured permanently, and you can still take part.
  • You keep whatever rights you have in your own words. By speaking in a recorded session you give us permission to publish the recording and clips of it. You can withdraw that permission for future clips at any time, and ask us to take down an existing one.

Neutrality

We are a neutral platform. We facilitate the conversation; we do not endorse any side of it. Views expressed in our debates are those of the individual participants and do not represent the views of The Debate Club.

Third-party services

We use Zoom, Meetup, WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn to run and publish the community. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms — including the YouTube Terms of Service.

No warranty

The club and this website are provided as-is. We do our best to run a good session every week, but we cannot guarantee availability, and we are not liable for what participants say.
